Halloween Festivities
We've been having fun preparing for Halloween this year. Grant was in a parade at his preschool and wanted to be an astronaut. I found some directions for creating an astronaut costume online and this is what Tim and I came up with. Pretty snazzy, in my (not so) humble opinion. It was fun to put it together and see how thrilled Grant was with it. And there's another picture of William looking very surprised at the camera. He's really filling out and getting quite chubby and cute.

The Man Returns...
We are all so happy that Daddy is back, but especially my big boy :-) His boy self has just flourished since Tim's return. He immediately began "Garguna-ing" (his code word for wrestling) when he saw Daddy at the airport - something that Mom is simply just not as good at.
A huge sigh of relief...we're all back together again.

God knew we needed Titus 2!
Someone once said that intergenerational family living is the way to raise kids. I definitely think there is some truth to that! When I'm at my wits' end, it is so reassuring to call up an older and wiser mom and get my head screwed back on straight.
"Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored." (Titus 2:3-5; emphasis mine)

One long month...
This past month has felt like a lifetime. I'm so glad Tim is coming home Wednesday. He'll be coming back to a messy house, dead lawn, dusty car, rambunctious three-year-old, sweet two-month-old, and one very happy (but tired, cranky, and losing-her-grip-on-life) wife.
I hardly have two seconds to myself anymore to string a coherent thought together. This blog, when I get around to it, is a nice way to sit down and actually see myself think by writing. Any other time my thoughts are constantly interrupted by remembering that the wet laundry is still in the washing machine and has been for hours, or hearing William cry, or hearing Grant sing about sinking the Bismarck for the millionth time, and at the top of his lungs, or remembering something else I have to do which is some other thought than what I was thinking about five seconds earlier. I just feel so scatterbrained. Sheesh.
Below are several pictures from the past two weeks. In the one where Grant is wearing a green cape, he's practicing some Jedi moves. The show at Disneyland where the kids fight off Darth Vadar has made an indelible impression on him! He's never seen the movie but I know he wants to be Luke Skywalker already! Such is life with boys. There are several of William, and one of Grant in his room-time in his freshly cleaned room. I wish room-time was always as peaceful as this picture makes it look. I think that was the honeymoon phase. Haha. Maybe I can regain it by cleaning his room more often??
